Interview with Omar Gutierrez, CEO of IM Social Design Group

Hi Omar, tell us about yourself:

I am an Industrial Designer with experience in entrepreneurship development across LATAM and am a recent graduate of Tec de Mty CSN. I’ve also had an opportunity to study over seas in Hong Kong.

Social Impact is at the core of the work that I unfold. New opportunities to collaborate move me and I am passionate about making a personal and community impact. Soccer keeps is me moving and inspired.

Share with us about your work across borders:

My dedication to cross border community is not work. My focal point has always been on professional growth and extending the opportunities to my network who have similar interest in growing and making an impact. I started with friends with the right mindset.

My first experience was Startup Week Phoenix where I ended up taking first place and that kicked so much more. The next place startup community took me is Peru, where I got to work on a social entrepreneurship project in partnership with Mexican Government and other NGO’s.

As a SU Collaborator, how has the Startup Unidos Network helped:

It has supported me as a recent graduate in unfolding professionally. It allowed me to put my preparation into practice and to test what I already knew.

It allowed me to expand my network outside of that already I had developed while at the same time exposed me to various perspectives and challenged my own view on cross-border economy. I realized that our region has unique opportunities that are shared and I have been able to grow my network across, Arizona, California and beyond.

How will the Startup Unidos Network continue to support you in the future:

It has afforded me insight on where and how I want to continue to grow.

Startup Unidos is a launching pad for new ideas and a source for inspiration on new ideas.

As Co-Founder of Emprende Amigo and having supported with directing entrepreneurship and innovation programs, SU is on a path to scale across the borderlands and the world. SU is a pilar of opportunity for youth who are passionate about creating change in own community or worldwide.
