The pre-production of the set for the Startup Weekend Nogales 2022 involved the Nogaleria artists Gerardo Frias and Tony Lucero who made an art intervention on an 8 by 20 feet mobile wooden structure called “Giant Canvas”. In 2019, the first official collaboration between Startup Unidos and Nogaleria took place in the form of the first Giant Canvas model and worked as a seed for the art and history project Nogaleria. The Giant Canvas is meant for the artists to go mobile with their art and can have different entrepreneurial functions at parks, festivals, and other key locations and events in the community. For the Startup Weekend this year, an improved version of the Giant Canvas was built and served as a photo backdrop, posting board and room divider at Churea, a creative space and furniture bazaar, where the event took place. The artists explained in their workshop their creative process for the Giant Canvas as well as how they have started their own entrepreneurship path through the art they create. Real life experiences were shared about what has worked well, what is still in the process, and a topic very popular in Startup conversations: failures. After the Q&A section with the participants of the Startup Weekend Nogales, their participation concluded with an art demonstration adding letters with spray paint to finalize the mural. As a continuation, the Giant Canvas is set to do a sponsored collaboration with The Hilltop Art Gallery for the Borderlands Theater Barrio Stories Festival. The artists will host a workshop for all ages during the creation of an entirely new mural on the Giant Canvas that will serve as an advertisement billboard, welcome sign and colorful photo background for the event on June 17th and 18th which will be located at Karam Park in Downtown Nogales, Arizona.

La pre-producción del escenario para el Startup Weekend Nogales 2022 involucró a los artistas de Nogaleria Gerardo Frias y Tony Lucero quienes hicieron una intervención de arte en una estructura móvil de madera de 8 por 20 pies llamado “Lienzo Gigante.” En el 2019, la primera colaboración oficial entre Startup Unidos y Nogaleria surgió en la forma del primer modelo del Lienzo Gigante y fungió como una semilla para el proyecto de arte e historia Nogaleria. El Lienzo Gigante fue creado para que los artistas sean móviles con su arte y que pueda tener diferentes funciones emprendedoras en parques, festivales, y otras ubicaciones y eventos clave en la comunidad. Para el Startup Weekend de este año, se construyó una versión mejorada de el Lienzo Gigante y sirvió como fondo para fotografías, boletín de anuncios, y separador de espacio en Churea, un espacio creativo y bazar de muebles, lugar donde el evento se llevó a cabo. Los artistas explicaron en su taller el proceso creativo de el Lienzo Gigante y como han empezado su propio camino al emprendimiento a través del arte que realizan. Se compartieron experiencias reales sobre lo que les ha funcionado, que sigue en proceso, y algo muy popular en las conversaciones de Startups: fracasos. Después de la sección de preguntas y respuestas con los participantes del Startup Weekend Nogales, se concluyó su participación con una demostración de arte agregando letras con pintura en aerosol para finalizar el mural. Como continuación, el Lienzo Gigante tiene programada una colaboración patrocinada con The Hilltop Art Gallery para el Festival de Historias de Barrio de Borderlands Theater. Los artistas van a dar un taller para todas las edades durante la creación de un mural completamente nuevo en el Lienzo Gigante que servirá como un anuncio de publicidad, letrero de bienvenida y fondo colorido para fotografías para el evento los días 17 y 18 de junio que estará ubicado en el Parque Karam en el centro de Nogales, Arizona.
